Adam Hanga and Nikola Mirotic complete the trio of captains for the basketball first team

Pierre Oriola is Barça's new basketball captain for the 2020/21 season. Adam Hanga and Nikola Mirotic complete the trio of captains for the team led by Sarunas Jasikevicius. The winger-pivot from Tàrrega, who arrived at the club in 2017, has been the second captain of the team during the last two seasons and takes over from Ante Tomic.

Oriola has played a total of 189 games for Barça, between the Endesa League and the Euroleague, during the three seasons he's been at the club. This summer he renewed his contract until June 30, 2024.

“A dream”

"For me it is a dream, a huge responsibility and a great weight that I will carry. Wearing the shirt already makes the responsibility great and now being a captain multiplies that by millions. I will try to help my team-mates, the team, and the coaches, and to ensure that everyone understands what this club is, what Barça means, not only in Catalonia, but all over the world. I will try to contribute as much as possible based on work and sacrifice and hopefully win titles," Oriola explained once he had been appointed captain.

“I asked for some advice in the past. I spoke with Roger Grimau, to ask him what the Paris Euroleague meant and what it means to be Barça captain ... I remember Berni Rodríguez in Seville, in Manresa with Roman Montañez .... I had very good captains, very good examples, and I hope to be one too and help the team and staff to do great things.”
