A very important match was played this Sunday in La Fonteta, and Barça's win against Baskonia (81-75) in the third game of this play-off was a key one. Both teams were undefeated, and so the win means that Barça are now solo leaders of Group A. Mirotic, with 22 points, and Hanga, with 14, were Barça's top scorers.
Pesic's team dominated for much of the game, especially at the start. Despite the Basques beginning well in attack, Barça's solid defence prevailed (17-7, min 5). Higgins' success, with 8 points in the first few minutes, was decisive in the first period (20-11, min 10).
Down by 13 (24-11) in the second period, Baskonia reacted with Shields scoring 17 points to see the visitors ahead (35-37). Mirotic and Claver gave Barça a slight lead at the break (42-39, min 20), but it was reversed in the last second of the third period (55-56, min 30).
Fortunately for Barça, Adam Hanga had a great fourth quarter both in defence and attack. Ten decisive points helped to ease the Catalans over the line (81-75).
The next match will be this Tuesday, against Bilbao Basket (6.30pm)
