Quique Setién: 'We want to win the league playing every game'
The Barça coach and his colleagues in the coaching staff talk about the imminent return of first team training and other topics in a videocall with the Club's official media
The Barça coach Quique Setién took part in a video call with the Club's official media along with his colleagues in the coaching staff, assistant coach Eder Sarabia, fitness coach Fran Soto and goalkeeping coach Jon Pascua. The four members of the backroom staff at FC Barcelona touched on several topics during the call including lockdown and the squad imminent return to training.
Setién explained his "desire to get back to normality, we are all affected a lot by what has happened and for the consequences it has had." He added: "We we come back, we will work on things that we have not been able to from home. Looking after the squad from a distance has been a very new process but the fitness coaches have looked after all the exercise topics with the players."
Regarding the return to training, the coaches all agreed that "there are a lot of unknowns but everything will get clearer as we go along". They added: "We have two competitions that are really motivating, it will be easy to get the team committed and motivated as in a short space of time there will be two trophies at stake." Setién continued: "We would like to complete the league season and win it playing all the game, the same in the Champions League. Nevertheless, there is the worry about what returning to action could mean."
The coaching staff gave updates on players such as Arturo Vidal and Luis Suárez. Of the latter, Sarabia said: "His recovery is going really well and within the time frame established he will join up with the rest of the squad. He is a great signing from the 'lockdown window'". The four coaches also took the chance to show off their collection of football jerseys, many of which are linked to their first few months at FC Barcelona.
