The so-called 'Alfa Romeo Cup' was a short-lived trophy played by Barça and Nacional Montevideo in a single friendly match, held at Les Corts on April 12, 1925.
Samitier's two goals for Barça in a thoroughly entertaining match, helped them to a 2-2 draw. However, no one had thought about such a scenario and hadn't therefore come up with a way to decide who would win the trophy.
It ended up being given to the representative of the Italian car brand acting as a sponsor, and even today, the grandson of that representative has the trophy in his own home. It’s been 95 years since the match and yet the cup has never left his family!
