Final Champions League game of the year for Barça and they rounded 2019 off in style with a 31-27 win over German side SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Xavi Pascual's team played superbly to defeat the German champions with Aleix Gómez scoring 10 goals.
A tight first half saw Barça take a 14-10 lead only for the visitors to fight back before the break and make it 15-15 at half time.
In the second half Flensburg took the lead but this only served to inspire Barça and Palmarsson's goal made it 22-19. Aleix Gómez flexed his scoring muscles to stretch the advantage with Pérez de Vargas also making a valuable contribution with 17 saves in the game.
Barça closed out a 31-27 win and now the blaugranes have an away visit to PSG on Sunday 1 December before the winter break and the resumption of action in February.
