D’Angelo Russell visits Camp Nou

Brooklyn Nets guard trains at the club, meets Riqui Puig and visits the stadium

D’Angelo Russell, one of the rising NBA stars, visited FC Barcelona on Tuesday. The Brooklyn Nets guard in the area on vacation following the conclusion of the basketball season in the US, and came by the club to continue his fitness program and make sure he keeps in tip-top shape.

Russell worked out in the pavilion at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper for an hour and chose to do so wearing a personalised Barça basketball shirt. While there, he bumped into Riqui Puig, the Barça B youngster who has already featured in a few games for the soccer first team under Ernesto Valverde. Puig is a huge basketball fan and often attends games at the Palau Blaugrana. The two spend a fair while chatting about both football and hoops.

After training, the native of Louisville, Kentucky moved on over to the Camp Nou, and was wowed by the incredible majesty of the Barça stadium – and even got a chance to kick about on the field.

The club also presented him with one of the brand new chequered shirts that the team will be wearing in the 2019/20 season – making him one of the very first people to get to own one!
