‘The Barça Way’ features at World Football Summit in Kuala Lumpur

Congress on the football industry offers a meeting point for companies, professionals and sports clubs to generate and share knowledge, and also identify new opportunities for growth and development.

​​Jordi Camps, Managing Director of FC Barcelona APAC, was in Kuala Lumpur to attend the latest edition of the World Football Summit in Kuala Lumpur, one of leading congresses in the football industry and which was being held for the first time in an Asian city. He spoke about ‘Investing in Asia: The Barça Way’, where he highlighted Barça’s philosophy and unique style, and why they make it More than a Club. Camps also participated in two panel talks, along with representatives of other European football clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal FC.

Camps described the growth that Barça has experienced throughout Asia and stressed the importance of understanding its different markets, people, cultures, sports infrastructure and media, in order to create products and contents that are relevant and of interest to each national audience.  He also spoke extensively about the importance of placing football at the core of everything FC Barcelona do, an approach that is exemplified by the 15 Barça Academies that the club has set up in Asia to teach the Barça style of play and in the Club's efforts to help develop the sport in the region.  

He also highlighted the work being done by FC Barcelona in terms of its digital content strategy and the creation of unique virtual and physical experiences with the aim of generating engagement with its fans, as well as the club’s involvement with local communities in the form of such programmes as those being run together with the Barça Foundation or with the support of the local fan clubs (Penyes).
