FC Barcelona will open a new soccer school in Ottawa from October. It will be the fourth FCBEscola in the country after three more were already opened in association with the club’s partner BCN Sports, first in Vancouver and then in Edmonton and Toronto, in September 2015 and April 2016, respectively.
"Canada is a market where we already have three fully functional schools and where we feel very welcome” says FCBEscola director Òscar Grau. “After almost ten soccer camps in this zone, now is the time to create an on-going activity in Ottawa, one of the country’s bilingual cities.”
FCBEscola Ottawa, presented last July 6, will be located on the site of the École Louis-Riel and will have 300 pupils, including both boys and girls. Training sessions will be supervised by coaches from FCBEscola and will use the same methodology as in the youth team at FC Barcelona, what’s known as the ‘Barça DNA’.
With this new school, the Club will have 24 FCBEscolas worldwide. Four other new FCBEscolas were approved by the Board for Mumbai, India; Moscow, Russia; Lagos, Nigeria; and Charlotte, North Carolina, in the United States.
The aim is for as many people as possible to access our methodology and to ensure an image of quality and excellence. Aimed at boys and girls aged 6 to 18 years. We teach the players the basic concepts of football in order for them to be able to deal successfully with sporting challenges in the future, while also teaching them the values that are so representative of FC Barcelona: respect, effort, ambition, teamwork and humilty.
The technical management of International Schools is entrusted to a coach from FC Barcelona, who oversees a sports programme established by the FC Barcelona Sports Department.
