A goldmine for future stars

Three more boys from FCBEscola have been promoted to the FC Barcelona youth structure, while another former pupil is now in the newly created U12 girls' squad

FCBEscola is a nursery for future stars, as shown this summer when three players from the soccer school were handed places in the formal academy structure at FC Barcelona. Adam Argemí and David Julià are now in the official U10 D squad while Pol Vila is in the pre-U10 squad. There have positive signs among the girls too, with María Calderón being picked to the newly created U12 squad. All four are a sign that things are very much going to plan at FCBEscola, where the standard gets better year after year.

There are now eighteen players in the Barça youth structure who started out as pupils of FCBEscola. Eric García and Antonio Bioque (U16 A); Marc Doménech and Robert Navarro (U16 B); Marc Pelaz, Víctor Muñoz, Teo-Surafel Bernardo and Leo Dos Reis (U14 A); Diego Almeida and Narcís Costa (U14 B); Iker Bravo (U12 A); Ferran Baqué (U12 B); Pau Prim (U12 C) and Daniel Tristán Gudjohnsen and Marc Rodríguez (U12 D) also got noticed while playing on the fields next to the Miniestadi.

The list goes on. Àlex Carbonell and Adrià Vilanova of Barça B, and Oriol Rey and Jordi Mboula of the U19 A team also have a past at FCBEscola.

Samper leads the way

But the player who has really set an example for the youngsters at FCBEscola is midfielder Sergi Samper, who made it as far as the first team and is now on loan to Granada. He became the first FCBEscola pupil to rise all the way up through the ranks to the Barça first team. He may have been the first, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be the last by any means.

So good luck to all the FCBEscola boys and girls, and let’s hope there are plenty more future stars where Samper came from!
