The academy opens its doors in Haras Ciudad Ecológica in Puebla and already has over 100 players learning from the FutbolNet methodology

The Barça Academy Puebla, FC Barcelona’s first in Mexico, has officially opened its doors following the inaugural ceremony held at the installations in Haras Ciudad Ecológica. This sporting academy is the twenty-third on the American continent from the 45 the Club has in the five continents. It joins the eight in the United States, six in Canada, three in Colombia, two in Brazil, and one each in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Guatemala.

The inauguration was attended by the Director of the Barça Academy Project, Carles Martín, and the Director of International Projects in America and the Middle East for the Barça Academy, Fredi Martín. They enjoyed the players’ parade and took part in the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony along with the brothers Carlos and Gontran Haghenbeck, representing Haras Ciudad Ecológica and Eduardo J. Celorio, representing Catalunya Sports, the academy’s partner.

The Barça Academy Puebla is aimed at boys and girls aged between 5 and 18 who want to learn how to play football following FC Barcelona’s methodology and values. The academies are already present in over 50 countries implementing their concept of training which is very different to that normally found in those countries. The installations are located in an idyllic setting in the countryside with a 100% ecological concept in which the installations are made from containers to not stand out from the natural environment.

Forty-Five Barça Academy projects across five continents

The Barça Academy is FC Barcelona’s model for youth soccer development worldwide and its main objective is the multi-faceted education of its students. This model of a soccer school, exported internationally, aims to grow the Barça brand and transmit the work ethic and values of the Club around the world.

The schools work with their own unique model based on the Barça methodology from the youth teams up to the first team, with an attacking and creative playing style and the transmission of crucial values such as respect, humility, effort, ambition and teamwork, with considerable success.

Currently, FC Barcelona has 45 Barça Academy projects around the world, 180 campuses and 50 clinics, with a presence in 52 countries and across five continents, and the participation of 45,000 children across all the activities.

The Barça Academy projects are divided into the Barça Escola of Barcelona, the Barça Academy Pro in Haikou (China) and New York, the Barça Residency Academy of Casa Grande (Arizona) and the 41 Barça Academies spread across the five continents.
