FC Barcelona chooses Bangalore, India’s “Silicon Valley”, for the third Barça Academy in the country

Close to 2,000 boys and girls to learn Barça’s values and playing style over the following season in India, a strategic country for the Club

Barça Academy continues with its international expansion in the Asia-Pacific region with the announcement of a new centre in Bangalore, India. This is the 46th project in the world and it will be based in India’s fifth largest city, known as the “Indian Silicon Valley” because of the large number of technology companies based there. The city becomes the third in India with an academy after Delhi and Mumbai.

The Barça Academy project started its relationship with the city in 2012 when they began organising the first Barça Academy Camps, whose success in terms of participation has improved year on year. For now, the FC Barcelona football school will be located at the Trio World Academy (Sahakar Nagar) and the Ecumenical Christian Centre (Whitefield).

Since the Barça Academy arrived in India a total of 15,000 boys and girls have enjoyed the project’s activities ranging from the Barça Academy Camps; trials; events; local and international tournaments; and ,of course, the two Barça Academies. All these activities are coordinated by the Club’s partner Conscient Football.

At the moment, more than 700 young people train weekly across the Barça Academy Delhi’s seven centres and 500 do so in Mumbai’s five centres. Around 400 children are expected to become part of the Barça Academy Bangalore family, led by the Local Project Director Jordi Escobar. He will be the Club’s representative responsible for the implementation of FC Barcelona’s characteristic playing style and values.

Forty-Six Barça Academy projects across five continents

The Barça Academy is FC Barcelona’s model for a football school for children and its main objective is the all-round education of its students. This model of a football school, exported internationally, aims to grow the Barça brand and transmit the work ethic and values of the Club around the world.

The schools work with their own unique model based on the Barça methodology from the youth teams up to the first team; with an attacking and creative playing style and the transmission of crucial values such as respect, humility, effort, ambition, and teamwork, with considerable success.

Currently, FC Barcelona has 46 Barça Academy projects around the world, 180 Campuses and Clinics, with a presence in 52 countries and five continents and the participation of 45,000 children across all the activities.

These Barça Academy projects are divided into the Barça Escola of Barcelona, the Barça Academy Pro in Haikou (China) and New York (United States), the Barça Residency Academy Arizona (United States), and the 42 Barça Academies spread across five continents.
