Japanese teams dominate first edition of Barça Academy Cup Asia Pacífic

Nara, Shinagawa, Katsushika and Delhi are the first champions of the APAC schools tournament

The first edition of the Barça Academy Cup Asia Pacífic, organised by the Barça Academy Delhi, concluded this past Sunday at the Heritage Xperiential School facilities in Gurgaon (India).

The most successful school was the Barça Academy Japan, represented by five teams of the eight finalists in four categories, winning three and placing second twice.

In the Under-9s, the Barça Academy Nara (Japan) won 3-1 against Barça Academy Fukuoka. Barça Academy Shinagawa Oimachi won the Under-11s against Barça Academy Fukuoka, 5-2.

The winners of the Under-13s and Under-15s categories were decided on penalties. In the Under 13s, Barça Academy Katsushika were the victors, whilst in the Under-15s, .  Barça Academy Delhi came back to draw 2-2 with Barça Academy Sydney (Australia) and triumph on penalties for their first trophy.

More than 500 players, aged from 7 to 15 years old, took part in the inaugural edition of the tournament, which took place over four days in the Indian capital. Some 13 academies from Asia participated, from six countries: Australia, Japan, Singapore, China, India and Spain (The Barça Escola Barcelona).
