Song: “The atmosphere at Celtic Park is fantastic”

Barça's Cameroon international, who played for Arsenal in 2009 away to Celtic FC, recognised that tomorrow's match "is an important match for us. We have to play with the intention of winning the three points"

“We’re very lucky that we get to play here, a place that has such a good atmosphere. That’s why we have to play a good game and make sure that the fans enjoy our football.” Alex Song knows what it’s like to feature in a match at Celtic Park, a stadium where the fans play a decisive role in outcome of matches. The Cameroon international played for Arsenal away to Celtic in 2009 and he was quick to recall that Celtic Park “has a fantastic atmosphere.”

With that said, the player believes that Barça are capable of clinching a spot in the Champions League knock-out round by defeating Celtic on Wednesday. “It’s an important match for us and we have to play with the intention of winning the three points.”

“We have to play our game”

FC Barcelona got a first-hand taste of what Celtic are capable of two weeks ago at the Camp Nou. “They played a very good match. They came out to defend and score on the counter,” said Song, who added: “We cannot focus on Celtic’s approach to the game, we need to be concerned with how we play.” The midfielder went on to say that “we won’t change our style of play. We’ve come here to play our style, to have the ball and play it quickly.”

Vilanova’s confidence in Song

Sergio Busquets will miss the match due to suspension which means that Alex Song will likely feature in the starting XI. The Cameroonian, who admitted that Tito Vilanova has taught him a lot since he arrived at the Club three months ago, said: “I’m trying to improve all aspects of my game and I’m gaining confidence little by little.” In addition, Song explained that he’d like to play all of Barça’s matches “but the most important thing is that we continue to play with our style and that we win our games.”
