The legendary German goalscorer, Gerd Müller, praised Leo Messi after last night’s match against Betis: “My record of 85 goals in 60 matches, which was set in 1972, was broken by the best player in the world, Leo Messi, and I’m very happy for him.” He added: “He’s an incredible footballer, a giant, and at the same time he’s personable and professional.”
The ex-Bayern Munich forward told German press this Monday that he hopes Messi adds to his newly claimed record before the year is up: “I hope he scores at least one or two more goals in the matches he has left this year and that he can hold onto the record for 40 years.” Der Bomber also noted that Messi only has one deficiency: “He doesn’t play for Bayern.”
