Season 2012/13: Spanish League Round Up Week 28

Real Sociedad took fourth spot this weekend, beating Valladolid 4-1, whilst Malaga slipped back following their 0-2 defeat at home to Espanyol. Real Madrid and Atletico both won to stay 13 and 14 points behind Barça at the top.

Real Sociedad into top four

Real Sociedad’s win means they leapfrog Malaga into fourth on 47 points, with the Champions League quarter finalists back on 45, a point ahead of Valencia – who beat Betis(43 points) 3-0 at La Mestalla. Griezman scored twice in the Basque’s win, their tenth game undefeated at Anoeta, whilst Betis were early on reduced to 10 men against Valencia when Amaya was sent off and from the resulting penalty Soldado got his 14th goal of the campaign.

No shock at the Bernabeu

Mallorca looked like they might pull off the shock of the weekend, going in 1-2 up at half time at the Bernabeu, but four second half strikes from Higuain, Ronaldo, Modric and Benzema turned the game round after the break and leave Mallorca third from bottom, a point ahead of Celta and two behind Zaragoza who were thrashed 4-0 by Seville. With Osasuna also losing, 0-2 at home to Atletico Madrid, Granada moved level with the Basques on 28 points after drawing 1-1 at home to Levante.
