8th April 2009. Barça hosted Bayern in the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals at the Camp Nou and put in a spectacular and efficient performance to sweep aside the German team 4-0 and virtually ensure a place in the semi-finals.
The game saw one of the best opening 45 minutes of football ever seen on the ground, as Messi and Eto’o put Barça 2-0 up within the first quarter of an hour. The Argentinean then got the fourth before the break after Henry had made it 3-0 as the Barça crowd thrilled to the team’s exhibition of attacking prowess.
A goal from Keita in the return game equalled Ribery’s opener for Bayern and confirmed Barça’s place in the semi- finals en route to success in Rome – the third trophy in their famous treble winning season.
