Barça Regal – Uxue Bilbao Basket: The most dangerous match

Xavi Pascual's men start the post-season playoffs this evening (20.45, Esport3) knowing that they must claim victory at the Palau

The fact that the quarter-final round of the playoffs is a best-of-three series means that there are inherent dangers for the team that has home-court advantage. Forty five minutes of bad basketball, a slow start, or simply being off your game could change the series dramatically. Barça Regal will play their first match of the quarter-finals this Thursday at 20.45 (Esport3) knowing full well that they absolutely must win the match at the Palau ahead of Sunday’s game in Bilbao. This evening's match is clearly the most dangerous of the whole series.

It’s a question of confidence

Claiming victory at the Palau nearly guarantees Barça Regal a spot in the semi-finals. Victory would also give the team a significant boost for the rest of the post-season. It would be the best way to show Barça Regal’s rivals that the Blaugrana are still capable of winning despite not having Mickeal or Jawai available for selection.

Up until now, the record between the Catalans and the Basques is level; Barça Regal lost by one point in Bilbao, while they defeated the Basques in Barcelona by two points in the regular season.

Without Rakovic; Vasileiadis, doubtful

Uxue Bilbao Basket come into this evening’s match without Rakovic and with Vasileiadis’ fitness in question. Barça Regal, on the other hand, will have Lucas Mavrokefalidis available for selection. It will be the Greek player’s second match in the Blaugrana strip.
