On Sunday, Olot was the venue for the Trobada de Penyes de Girona, celebrating its eleventh edition this year. More than a thousand people gathered in the capital of La Garrotxa. Toni Freixa, Secretary and Spokesman for the FC Barcelona Board attended all of the events in representation of the Club.
It all started in the Pavelló d’Esports d’Olot for an exhibition by the local figure skating club, the champions of Europe in their age group. No fewer than twenty clubs joined the Penya Barcelonista d’Olot i Comarca, presided by Miquel Vila.
A flag parade then took to the streets of Olot ending in the Pavelló Firal d’Olot where everyone settled down to enjoy a splendid Barça-themed meal.
Miquel Vila welcomed the guests and introduced some distinguished speakers. Justo Molinero, president of the Grup Tele Taxi and former FC Barcelona player Joan Torrent started it off, and were followed by the local mayor Josep M. Corominas.
To end, Toni Freixa pronounced a series of recognitions and tributes to the governing board of the host club and the other organisations that had collaborated with such a successful event.
