FC Barcelona: Individual stats from 2012/13 league season

Among this seasons leaders, Messi was the top scorer, Cesc made the most assists, Alba won the most tackles and Alves crossed the most balls into the area

Barça’s Liga 2012/13 winning season has come to an end, and now is the time to review some the overall stats. Here we have a look at who topped the lists in each category:

Leo Messi, top scorer: The Argentinian was far and away the top goalscorer this season with 46, an average of one every 60 minutes. He was followed by Cesc Fàbregas (11), David Villa (10), Alexis (8), Pedro (7) and Tello (7).


Cesc, leader in assists: No fewer than 11 passes from the Catalan ended with the ball in the back of the net. The other leaders in this category were Iniesta (10), Messi (10) and Alexis (8).


Dani Alves, most fouls: The full back committed 56 fouls this season, one every 42 minutes, although 16 players from other teams made more than he did. The other ‘tough guys’ this season for Barça were Alexis (38), Jordi Alba (34) and Cesc (31).


Messi, most fouls received: The Argentinian was on the receiving end of 74 fouls, one every 37 minutes. Alexis (56), Busquets (51) and Iniesta (44) were next on the list.


Jordi Alba, most balls won: No Barça player was able to win more than the 278 balls gained by the left back, an average of 9.5 a game, although he finished only very slightly ahead of Gerard Piqué and Sergio Busquets, with 277 and 274 respectively.


Alves, most crosses: The Brazilian sent 169 balls into the area, 13 of which led to shots, and 3 to goals. Barça’s other main crossers were Xavi (100) and Messi (46).


Alexis most offsides: The Chilean was caught offside 26 times in the league, followed by Pedro (21), Villa (21) and Messi (16).
