Tito Vilanova’s stepping down has proved to be a big blow for the footballing world and the international and national media have been quick to give messages of support to Vilanova, his family and the Club.
“Força, Tito” is the Barcelona paper’s message, adding: “the Barça coach has stepped down to fight his illness”.
The headline in ARA reads: “Tito steps down” and adds that his leaving has come as a big shock to the Club.
El Periódico, under the headline “Tito steps down” explains: “Vilanova will undergo treatment that means he is unable to continue coaching”.
EL PUNT AVUI
“#ÀnimsTito” is the message sent by El Punt Avui on its front page, explaining: “the Barça coach steps down to undergo new treatment”.
“Todos con Tito” - “Everyone with Tito” is the banner headline on the front of the Barcelona sports paper, which explains that Tito: “has to undergo treatment which will make it impossible for him to continue as coach”, whilst stressing the shock that players and Directors have felt at the news.
In an emotional front page, Sport writes: “T’estimem” – We Love You”, explaining that Tito has suffered a relapse which makes it impossible for him to continue.
MARCA claims: “Tito leaves to face the game of his life”. adding that Vilanova “is leaving the coaching role to focus on his recovery”. Sandro Rosell’s comment: “his new treatment is incompatible with the job of coach” also appears on the front page.

The Italian paper leads with: “Dramma Vilanova la malattia lo ferma di nuovo” (Vilanova Drama, illness stops him again) adding that the new treatment means he cannot continue at the Club.
LA GAZZETA DELLO SPORT
“Dramma Vilanova” (Vilanova Drama) is the headline in the Italian paper which explains he has suffered a relapse.
“Vilanova ne dirigera plus le Barça” (Vilanova will not coach Barça anymore) is the front page of the French paper.
“Tito Vilanova leaves his post” is the headline for the Portuguese paper, explaining that the Club announced the coach’s departure.
