Agreement to rescind Rabaseda's contract

FC Barcelona and Xavier Rabaseda have agreed to terminate the contract which united both parties through the 2013/14 season

Xavi Rabaseda will not continue with FC Barcelona this season. The Club and the player have agreed to rescind the contract which united both parties through the 2013/14 season. FC Barcelona want to express its gratitude to Xavier Rabaseda for his commitment and dedication to the Club, and wish him continued success in his career.

Home-grown player

Rabaseda is a 100% Barça product. He grew up in the team’s youth system and little by little he earned a spot on the first team. His first contract with Xavi Pascual’s team was singed in the 2008/09 season. During that season, he played two matches, and in the following season he featured four times for the senior side.

Productive year away from home

In the summer of 2010, the player was loaned out to Fuenlabrada. Rabaseda took advantage of the opportunity and he put in a great year with the Madrid-based side. He averaged 8.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per match. His progress at Fuenlabrada didn’t go unnoticed and he made his return to Barça the following season. His loan contract was for two seasons, with the option to bring the player back after the first year. Barça decided to act on the agreement and Rabaseda joined Pascual’s team for the 2011/12 season.

Explosive and intense

Rabaseda is a very intense and gritty player. In his two seasons at the Palau Blaugrana, he’s featured in 81 matches between the regular season and the playoffs. Last year, in the 2012/13 season, he made 41 appearances, and averaged 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per match.
