Ajax manager Frank deBoer and the former Barça player Bojan Krkic talked to the press this Tuesday ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash at the Camp Nou. The Dutch manager said, “Barcelona’s level is very high. We need to play a good game and get a good result here.”
De Boer went on to highlight the Messi-Neymar threat: “We’ll try to make Messi and Neymar not play comfortably. Our players will have to put in a big effort to stop them.” He added: “They are two high-quality stars who play for the same team and the whole team works for them.” The Dutch manager went on to praise the work of the new FC Barcelona manager and Neymar’s contribution to the team: “I enjoy watching Barça play. Not a lot has changed from last season because 90% of the players are still here. But with Neymar they’ve gained quality.”
A special match
“Barça are impressive. We’ll try to play the best we possibly can, with our style of play, because we know that we’re a good team when we play our football,” said De Boer. “It will be a difficult match because we’re going up against one of the best teams in the world, but I have a lot of confidence in my team,” explained the manager.
Bojan will return to the Camp Nou for the second time in as many seasons. “For me it’s a special match. Barça have the best players in the world but our mentality needs to be focused on winning the game. We have to have confidence in our players.” He added: “I want to score and play well tomorrow.”
The Catalan went on to talk about Barça’s star signing: “Neymar is a great player and he’s showing that he has a lot of quality. It’s evident that Neymar and Messi understand each other.” He added: “I’m in a club that’s given me the chance to play. I’m happy in Amsterdam.”
