FC Barcelona have claimed four of the five Spanish Super Cup titles they were involved in this year, with only the basketball team failing to lift the title after losing in Saturday night’s final. The football, handball, futsal and roller hockey teams all took the title, with Tata Martino and Ricard Muñoz claiming their first titles and the win for Barça Alusport the first ever for the section.
Martino’s side won their eleventh Super Cup by seeing off Atletico Madrid on the away goals rule (1-1 and 0-0). Xavi Pascual’s men beat Naturhouse La Rioja in the final held in Valladolid (40-31) to take their seventeenth Super Cup. Barça Alusport beat El Pozo Múrcia in a thrilling final (0-1 and 5-5). Finally, Ricard Muñoz’s team overcame Reus Deportiu in a penalty shoot out this Sunday for the roller hockey section’s seventh Super Cup. All in all, a great start to the season, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
