Leo Messi was one of the standout players in Wednesday’s match against AC Milan. The forward, who scored two of Barça’s three goals, says he’s slowly recovering his form. In an interview with UEFA.com, Messi said: “I’m calm. Little by little I’m getting my rhythm back. Playing 90 minutes is great for me to get back in physical shape and for me to recover the pace I had before the injury. The two injuries were nearly back to back, and it shows. Little by little I’ll recover my form, I’m not worried about it.”

When asked about the match against Milan, and why he shot his penalty to the center of Abbiati’s goal, Messi said: “I had taken various penalties against this keeper before, but I still had a lot of doubts. He’s very tall, he’s good at blocking low and high shots, so I decided to shoot right down the middle.” The forward has scored a career high of eight goals against AC Milan.
“In general Barça were the superior team,” continued Messi. “We managed the game well from the very beginning, and we had the initiative, like we almost always do. We were a bit unlucky to concede that first-half goal and things got a bit complicated after that,” concluded the four-time Ballon d’Or winner.
