Barça got their European campaign off to a wonderful start with a 14-4 trouncing of German club SKG Herringen, the goals coming from Torra (2), Marín (7), Gual , Reinaldo (2), Álvarez and Pascual.
The game began with the teams respecting a minute’s silence in memory of Arnau Vilalta, assistant manager of Club Patí Voltregà. And the game had barely started when Marc Torra fired home the first goal from the penalty spot.
In the thirteenth minute the home side really exploded into form. Raul Marín scored from a free and seconds later Gual latched onto a loose ball to make it 3-0.
Marín and Reinaldo then scored goals four and five, but just as the Germans looked dead and buried, they bounced back with two goals of their own. It was a wake-up call for Barça, and Marc Torra responded by making it 6-2.
But today was all about Raul Marín, He still had five more goals in him to take his tally for match up to an astonishing seven.
The visitors did manage to grab a couple more goals of their own, but the game was as good as over by that point. A penalty from Reinaldo, and Pascual’s first ever goal for the team completed what was ultimately a 14-4 rout and gets Barcelona’s Euro campaign of to the perfect start.
