Messi returns after a two-month hiatus and scores a brace

The FC Barcelona forward returned to competitive play and he scored two goals in 30 minutes

Everyone was eager to see him and everyone cheered him on when the voice of the Camp Nou, Manel Vich, announced Leo Messi was about to sub in for Andrés Iniesta on the loudspeakers of the Camp Nou. The Argentinian forward, who made his return to competitive play after spending nearly two months on the sidelines due to injury, came back in style as he only needed 30 minutes to score a brace.

The Argentinian, when he picked up an injury during the match against Betis, hadn’t laced up his boots since 10 November. And it had been 63 days, since the Champions League match between Barça and Milan, that Messi had played at the Camp Nou.

30 minutes and two goals

Finally this Wednesday, against Getafe, and after two months of intense recovery, Messi returned to competitive play. He enjoyed a total of 30 minutes on the pitch, and he saved the best for the end. In only four minutes (min 87 to min 91), Messi scored two goals which doubled Barça’s lead over Getafe. In addition, the two goals make Messi the team’s highest scorer in all competitions (16 goals).

Messi’s magic was on display before kick off as well, when he was warming up alongside Valdés, Xavi, Piqué and Jordi Alba. The Argentinian treated the onlooking fans with subtle and spectacular touches.
