Manchester City lead the Premier League (0-2)

A goal from Dzeko, on 8 minutes, and another from Negredo on 94 minutes, secured the three points for Manuel Pellegrini's team

Manchester City secured another victory and the top spot of the Premier League. Manuel Pellegrini’s team had a hard time of it at St. James Park, but a goal from Dzeko at the start of the match, and another from Negredo at the end, were enough to see the Manchester team to the top of the table.

Dzeko scores the opener

David Silva linked up with Kolarov, who crossed the ball in for Dzeko. The forward made quick work of the pass and slotted the ball into the back of the net. Controversy followed as Tiote’s goal was called back by the referee for a doubtful offside position from Gouffre.

Touré and Nasri pick up injuries; Negredo seals the win

After the one-hour mark, the former Barça player Touré Yaya was forced to leave the pitch due to muscular problems; Javi García came on in his stead. Nasri also limped off the pitch after a hard tackle from Yanga-Mbiwa.

Newcastle could have scored the equaliser after a great play from Remy, but Hart saved the attempt. With five minutes to go, Fernandinho sent the ball to the woodworks. Finally, after four minutes of added time, Negredo took advantage of Milner’s through ball to score the definitive 2-0.
