FC Barcelona – Iberostar Tenerife: Potential banana skin

Pascual's team face a side who have lost their star man - Blagota Sekulic. Contrasting form going into the Cup - with Barça on a high and Tenerife on a losing streak

Barça come into their debut in the 2014 Cup game against Iberostar Tenerife on the back of a seven game winning streak – in stark contrast to the Canary Islanders who have lost all of their last four ACB games.

Potential banana skin

With those two contrasting runs and the respective positions of the teams – Barça are third and Tenerife tenth – could make it look as if Pascual’s side are in for an easy ride, but any over confidence could be Barça’s big enemy, particularly given that Tenerife will be without their star, Blagota Sekulic, MVP for December in the ACB and recently transferred to Fenerbahce and the man signed to replace him, the Greek Lazaros Papadopoulos.  Barça though, know they have to avoid this potential banana skin!

League win at the Palau

In the ACB game between the two teams earlier this season, Barça ran out comfortable 87-71 winners at the Palau – one of the side’s first convincing wins of the campaign which saw  Ante Tomic score 16 points and get a 26 valuation.
