FC Barcelona won their fifth consecutive league victory this afternoon in San Sebastián. They faced off against Gipuzkoa Basket, who, in the first half, fell behind Xavi Pascual’s team 52 to 31. In the second half, the Blaugrana took advantage of their lead to cruise to a comfortable victory. Lampe scored 21 points and Navarro scored 16, Jason Robinson scored 34.
Barça were on target in the opening eight minutes of the match as they sunk all seven attempts on basket. Navarro led the team at the start, and scored eight points in the first quarter. The Blaugrana finished up the first quarter with 23 points, scored 10 out of 14 shots. Gipuzkoa were still in the game thanks to Jason Robinson, who scored 9 points in the opening 10 minutes.
Lampe and Hezonja led the team in the second quarter. Between the two players they scored 19 points – 11 for the Polish player and 8 for the young Croat. Lampe was simply unstoppable in the paint, and Hezonja took advantage of the minutes that Pascual game him. At the break, Barça has scored 60 points thanks their 14 out of 22 field goals and 7 out of 12 three pointers.
In the second half, Barça lost their pace and Gipuzkoa took advantage of it through Robinson. Navarro led the team on attack, but the Blaugrana couldn’t find the way to slow down the American, who finished the third quarter with 24 points.
The last quarter saw the home team come within less than 10 points from the lead, but a three pointer from Pullen reestablished Barça’s advantage despite Robinson’s total point haul of 34 points. The match came to an end with Barça in front by 11 points, it’s the team’s 18 win in the Liga Endesa.
