Thirteen players have represented both the German 'zebras' and the Catalan 'blaugrana'
After signing Wael Jallouz, there have now been 13 players that have worn the black and white of THW Kiel and the red and blue of FC Barcelona. From Nenad Perunicic to Jallouz, there are plenty of historic ties between the two clubs.
Five of those are still playing today. At Barcelona, Nikola Karabatic, Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson and Wael Jallouz are all former THW Kiel stars.
In turn, Kiel currently has Catalan Joan Cañellas and Swede Johan Sjöstrand who both formerly played for FC Barcelona’s handball team.

Demetrio Lozano and Andrey Txepkin were both part of the Dream Team that dominated the game in the late nineties, and also spent time at THW Kiel.
Lozano was at Kiel from 2001 to 2004 and Andrey Txepkin in late 2006/07, helping the Germans to their seventh European Cup. Txepkin also won six with Barça.
Nenad Perunicic wore the THW Kiel shirt from 1997 to 2001 and later played for Barça in 2006/07.
