Pedro: "Luis Enrique knows what I can bring"

The Spanish winger admitted that the Club's commitment to him was one of the keys in encouraging him to stay "I'll work as hard as I can to help my teammates and put in a good season", he told this lunchtime's press conference

Pedro Rodríguez is starting his sixth season in the first team squad and after he spoke earlier this summer to Andoni Zubizarreta to clarify his future at the Club, he’s excited about the prospects for life under new boss Luis Enrique:  "the Club has confidence and faith in me. I’ve worked under Luis Enrique before, he knows me and he knows what I can bring. That was important in keeping me at the Club which has given me everything”.

Speaking to the media at a press conference this lunchtime, Pedro explained he wasn’t worried for his place with the arrival of Luis Suárez: “the common objective we all share is to put in a good season. The boss will decide who plays each particular game” and reminded reporters that since he joined the squad he had always had to compete with big names: “I’ve learnt a lot from all of them. Luis Suarez is a great player and I am sure I am going to learn plenty from him”.

Pedro was asked if he sees himself becoming more of a wing back – a position Del Bosque has tried him at for Spain - and explained: “I feel comfortable in attack, but if the coach wants to use me as a full back, I’ll try and be 100%”.

Finally of praise for the facilities at St.George's Park: “it’s incredible. The grass is very good, the temperature ideal for training, the rooms are very comfortable and there’s a lot of space for us to relax in”.
