Memories from Milan, the 2016 Champions League final host city

FC Barcelona have played 13 times at San Siro with four victories, four draws, and five losses.

Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, commonly known as San Siro, will host the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League Final on May 28th 2016. Barça know it well having played there 13 times, achieving four victories along with four draws and five defeats.

Rivaldo, Giuly, and Xavi have all shone

The 13 matches played there included battles against both AC Milan and Inter Milan. Barça have defeated AC  Milan three times there, tied twice and lost three times. The last two Barça wins there were extra special, coming in the first leg of the 2005/06 Champions League semifinals and in the 2011/12 group stage, when Giuly and Xavi led them to victory.

Further back, the team won in Milan in the 1959/60 season, and years later, Rivaldo turned in some incredibly stunning performances like his hat trick in a 3-3 draw in the 2000/01 season.

Nevertheless, the team has only beaten Inter there once. It happened way back in the 1959/60 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. But since then Barça has only managed two ties and two defeats, the most recent being a devastating Champions League semifinal loss in 2009/10.

The stadium will be celebrating its 88th anniversary on September 19th, 2014. It was also expanded in 1956 and renovated in 1989.
