October hunt

October hunt

FC Barcelona hasn't lost in October since 2009 versus Rubin Kazan Since then they have 21 wins and six draws

FC Barcelona embark this Saturday on what will be a very demanding month of October, with matches versus Rayo Vallecano, Ajax, Eibar, and Real Madrid. Historically it has been a good month for the Club. The last time they lost an October game was back in 2009 when Rubin Kazan shocked everyone by winning 2-1 at Camp Nou in the Champions League.

Since then, FC Barcelona have played a total of 27 official October matches. Their balance is 21 victories and six draws.

Steady in spite of stoppages

Traditionally October is a month that brings La Liga to a halt for international play. But FC Barcelona has rarely missed a beat, winning six of seven with one draw in 2010 and five of six with one draw in 2011.

A month for Madrid

The last two seasons have given the team an October record of 10 wins and two ties, including two El Clasicos at Camp Nou versus Real Madrid. The first ended 2-2 with Messi and Ronaldo tallying two goals apiece. Barça won the second thanks to scores from Neymar and Alexis.

History may repeat itself, but this time El Clasico will be at Madrid on October 25. Can Barça keep it up?
