A record for the whole team, says Mathieu

The French centre back was delighted with the win, and pointed out that the whole team is to be thanked for the record seventh clean sheet “I haven't played full back for some time, but it felt fine” he added when asked about his change of position

[[DES_1]]One of the most outstanding players this Saturday at Vallecas was Jérémy Mathieu. “The team are really happy” he said afterwards. “It’s some time since I’ve played at left back, but it felt fine. The manager asked me to play there, and so I did. It’s not a new position for me. I know how to play there. Tonight I was able to play more attacking football, making as much of a contribution as I could. We won and didn’t concede any goals.”

He was also pleased that Bravo got his record, although he did add that “this was really a record for the whole team, because the defence starts with the attack. We have all worked hard for this clean sheet.”

Whatever happens between now and October 25, Barça will be ahead of Real Madrid when they go to the Bernabeu. “That’s important” admitted the Frenchman. “That said, there’s a long way to go in this season. But we’ll been confident going to Madrid.”

Claudio Bravo:

“I’m happy with the record. This is not an easy ground, and they created chances. But I was more pleased with the way the team played in general, more than the record”.

“They’re a hard team to deal with because of the way they play. It’s a small pitch and so we find it hard to generate and develop our game.”

“Criticism aside, the important thing was to win, and relax. Me made corrections after the match in Paris and you could tell. I’m fully satisfied with the game".

“I always have to be ready to intervene when called upon. I wasn’t thinking about the record, I was thinking about the game and working hard not to let in goals”.

“It was nice to win, we can now go home feeling a bit more relaxed”.
