Leo Messi goes left, and right too

In La Liga, the Argentinian has seven goals with his left foot, seven with his right and one header.

Leo Messi scored once again in Barça's last game of 2014. He finished off the scoring in Saturday's 5-0 win over Córdoba, confirming his tendency this season to score goals with his right foot as often as he does with his dominant left. In La Liga, Messi has seven goals with his left foot, seven with his right and one header.

Balancing act

In the last five league games, Messi has scored eight goals. He had a hat trick against Sevilla to break Zarra's all-time league scoring record; he scored another hat trick in the derby against Espanyol; and he added a brace on Saturday against Córdoba. Of these eight goals, five have been with the right foot, reflecting Messi's never-ending quest to get better.

The right-footed goals are no coincidence, either. He's also done it in the UEFA Champions League, scoring half of his goals in the group stage of the Champions League with his supposedly weaker leg. He's scored four with each foot in the Champions League. In fact, in Nicosia against Apoel, he did something remarkable: not only did he get another hat trick, but all three goals were with his right leg. With 23 goals overall between the league and the Champions League, Messi is Barça's top scorer on the season.
