Barça B – Real Valladolid: hard work not enough (1-3)

Barça B tried hard to overcome an early own goal, but Valladolid's effectiveness in front of goal proved key

Barça B’s hard work and desire weren’t enough to see them to a second win on the run as they went down 1-3 to Valladolid at the Mini Estadi on Tuesday evening. An early own goal set Barça back before Dongou equalised in the second half, but then Hernán Pérez and Jeffren struck for the visitors to give them the three points Barça B so desperately needed.

Valladolid’s Hernán Pérez and Roger Martí  both tested Suarez in the Barça goal early on, but the keeper proved up to the challenge, though he was unable to do anything as  Gerard Gumbau unfortunately put through his own net to give the visitors an early lead. Although Halilovic, Joan Roman and Sandro all threatened before the break, it took Adama, who came on in the second half to haul them back into the game and after a first charge up the pitch to only be denied by Javi Varas, he wasn’t to be denied soon after Samper put him through to bring Barça level.

The draw didn’t last long though, as Hernán Pérez beat the keeper with a clever chip. Barça B needed to throw everything forward now, but it was the ex-Barça striker Jeffren who scored with a long range effort that sealed a painful defeat for the B team.
