Barça Lassa 77-70 Real Madrid: Great night at the Palau

The Catalans achieve a prestigious victory in the Euroleague after the retirement of Navarro's number

Before the match, an emotional act of homage and the retirement of Juan Carlos Navarro's number was celebrated. With the victory, Barça Lassa now have 15 wins and nine defeats in the Euroleague and equal Anadolu Efes in the standings. Ante Tomic was the best player on the night with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The start of the duel saw little success for either side. After an initial triple by Randolph, the Catalans took almost two and a half minutes to score, Heurtel leading the Culé attack with the first seven points (7-7, min 5). An exchange of baskets saw the scores at 16-17 at the end of the quarter.

Real Madrid then went further ahead (18-25, min 13), but the Catalans managed to come straight back (28-29, min 16). From here on, the hosts, roared on by a full Palau, began to dominate and led at the break (42-37).

Brilliant start to the second half

Svestislav Pesic's men came out after half-time with only one thing on their mind, and their dominance was starting to be seen on the score board (50-37, min 24). Ante Tomic was been very successful under the ring with Heurtel having an outstanding game. Real Madrid wouldn't give up and towards the end of the third quarter they managed to cut the difference to five points (56-51, min 30).

In the latter stages, Barça were very comfortable, extending their advantage again (67-54, min 36). It meant that the hosts could afford to relax and ease their way to a fifteenth Euroleague victory this season (77-70).
