'He has worked very hard to get here, he is a player who has shown constant progress,' says technical secretary Joan Creus

FC Barcelona Lassa presented new signing Pau Ribas on Tuesday, just days before the start of the EuroBasket. The 28-year-old will feature in the competition for the Spanish national team before making his first appearance for Barça.

Joan Creus, the Club’s technical secretary, was full of praise for the point guard: “He has worked very hard to get here, he is a player who has shown constant progress.”

Ribas expressed his pride at joining Barça: “I’m really happy to have arrived at this club, to have the chance to play for Barça and challenge for titles,” said the former Valencia player. “My aim is to win everything, through hard work and humility,” he declared.

“We are a big squad and only hard work will see us prevail,” added the Catalan. “I am very versatile both in attack and defence, I can play in different positions and I will try to improve based on what the coach tells me, who knows what is best for the team.”

Soon to compete in what will be his first international tournament, Ribas paid tribute to his own hard work which he believes has seen him evolve in recent years: “My game has matured, I am more experienced than I was a few years ago in the ACB. I have played more than 50 games in the Euroleague and now I’ll play for the national team,” he stated, before adding that he joins Barça “at the ideal moment to help the team”.

A good understanding

Creus meanwhile stated that there was no problem in reaching an agreement with Valencia and that the club will release the figures for the season ahead on a balance sheet, as it did last year.
