How Barça perform on the road in Champions League play

In the last 10 seasons FC Barcelona have played 57 away games in the UEFA Champions League and have won 28, tied 17 and lost 12 Striker Lionel Messi's personal numbers are jaw-dropping — 34 goals and 10 assists in 4,101 minutes played

Cue the curtain on the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League. Reigning champions FC Barcelona open their title defence at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. As the Catalans start continental play away from the friendly confines of Camp Nou, we felt it was a good idea to take a look at how Barça have performed over the years, on the road, in Europe's most prestigious competition.

In fact, since the 2005/06 season, with Frank Rijkaard at the helm, until the 2014/15 title-winning squad led by Luis Enrique, Barça have won 28 matches, drawn 17 and lost 12 in 57 Champions League matches played on the road. Those figures do not include the four Champions League Finals played — and won — at neutral sites, nor the preliminary qualifier at Wisla in the 2008/09 season.
