FC Barcelona B v CD Llosetense: Persistence without reward (0-1)

Despite all their pressure, the reserves were punished by a goal on the counter-attack which separated the two sides

Barça B were unable to keep up their good run of results at Miniestadi as they fell to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Llosetense on Sunday, despite being in control of the game for large parts.

Pressure and dominance

The home side started brightly and thought they had taken the lead after just six minutes when Aitor Cantalapiedra tucked the ball beyond the advancing goalkeeper, only to see the goal ruled out for offside.

Nevertheless, Barça continued to dominate the game and always looked the likelier of the two sides to go ahead. Dongou went close with a shot from outside the area while Maxi Rolón’s attempted cross almost dipped into the corner of the net. Dongou and Aitor again went close just before the break in what was a great spell for the home team.

Decisive counter-attack

However, the second-half saw a change in the tide as Llosetense began to offer a threat of their own with Ortolà brought into action just before the hour mark.

Barça tried to regain control of the game and should have taken the lead on 60 minutes as Aitor ran through on goal but was unable to finish.

In the following attack, the home side were to be punished - Tarin was dispossessed in the middle of the park which sparked a counter-attack for the visitors which ended in Nico scoring the game’s only goal.

Dongou, Grimaldo and Aleñá tried to rescue a point but ultimately to no avail as Barça came away feeling frustrated from a game in which they felt they merited more.
