Neymar and Luis Suárez top goalscorers in the league

The Brazilian star and the Uruguayan striker lead the race to be top scorer domestically with 12 and 11 goals so far respectively

FC Barcelona’s goals have two names at the moment, none other than Neymar and Luis Suárez. The Brazilian is top scorer in the Spanish First Division with 12 goals, followed his Uruguayan team mate on 11. The strike duo have been the main attraction in the absence of Leo Messi following the knee injury he picked up at the end of September playing against Las Palmas. Neymar and Luis Suárez have scored 20 of Barça’s last 21 goals in the league, 19 of which came when the Argentine was injured. The pair scored three of the four goals in the win at the Bernabéu on Saturday, Andrés Iniesta’s strike is the one from the 21 that they have not notched up.

The last time two Barça players led the goalscoring charts in the league was back in February 2009 when Leo Messi on 11 and Samuel Eto’o on 10 led the list. The Brazilian and the Uruguayan have already surpassed those figures after just 12 games.

Suárez moves past Romário and Maradona

With his two goals against Real Madrid, the Barça number 9 now has 40 goals in 61 games, moving past FC Barcelona legends Romário, 39 goals in 66 games, and Diego Maradona, 38 goals in 58 games. A figure that shows Luis Suárez’s goalscoring potential and his ambition to be one the best strikers the Club’s history.
