FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with fellow Catalan club UE Olot to sign Alberto Perea for the B team until 30 June 2017. Perea has passed his medical examination and is expected to be ready to start taking orders from coach Gerard López on Friday.
The 25-year-old is a product of the Albacete academy, and after leaving that club he spent time in the reserves at both Atlético Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, playing 13 first division matches for the latter. Last season he played second division football for UE Llagostera and since switching allegiances to Olot at the start of the current campaign, he has scored nine goals in 15 appearances.
After signing his new contract, Perea took the time to say a few words to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.com, saying that “I am very happy and really looking forward to training and playing my first match. I’ll be one of the older players, so I think I can add experience and maturity to the team … We are near the bottom of the table, and I think we need to score more. Well, I’m doing well in front of goal right now. I’ve got nine goals this season.”
