Jennifer Hermoso on fine course for leading goalscorer trophy
The FC Barcelona striker scored three against Espanyol to take her total for the league season up to 21
Barça’s 7-1 trouncing of Espanyol featured a hat-trick from Jennifer Hermoso. A header, a penalty and a cold-blooded finish inside the rival area have thus consolidated her place at the top of the league scoring charts with 21 goals.
She has three more than Levante’s Mexican striker Charlyn Corral and four more than former FCB player Sonia Bermúdez, now at Atlético Madrid, with five games left to play.
That was Jenni’s second three-goal spree of the season. She also achieved the feat in another 7-1 win, this time against Levante, while she was on target twice in games against Granadilla, Transportes Alcaine, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano and Fundación Albacete.
This is her highest scoring campaign since she joined Barça in the winter of 2013/14. The Madrid-born 25-year-old has progressed to become the leading figure in the FCB attack.
