FC Barcelona Lassa's first signing of the Bartzokas era, Víctor Claver, passed his physical at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday and had a chance to speak to Barça TV about his thoughts on his new team. The 27-year-old forward, who comes to the ACB after playing in Russia, is well aware of the challenge.
“Playing at Barça is highly demanding,” he said. "But it motivates me and I feel excited. That's why I'm here, to continue growing and to help the team in any way I can."
During the interview, Claver said he was very happy to end up in Barcelona and to nail down his plans before heading to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he'll be playing for Spain.
"I had been thinking for quite some time about what the next stop in my career would be, and I'm happy to be in Barcelona," he said.
When Claver takes the floor he will be reunited with his coach at Lokomotiv Kuban, Georgios Bartzokas, who signed on with Barça recently.
"I know the coach," Claver said. "Last year we exceeded expectations. And I hope that it is a similar situation in Barcelona. Despite the changes taking place, I hope we're very successful."
