Luis Suárez to face former club Liverpool for the first time
Saturday’s friendly at Wembley will see the Uruguayan take on a number of former teammates from his three and a half year spell on Merseyside
FC Barcelona forward Luis Suárez will take on his former side Liverpool for the first time since leaving in 2014.
Saturday’s encounter will be Barça’s third friendly of pre-season at the International Champions Cup, after beating Celtic, managed by Suarez’s former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, and Premier League champions Leicester City which both resulted in wins for the Catalans.
Suárez wore the colours of Liverpool for three and a half seasons where he hit an impressive 69 goals in the Premier League.
His best season was in 2013/14 when he scored 31 league goals, becoming the top scorer and won the European Golden Shoe. He also won the Carling Cup with Liverpool in 2011/12.
The incredible 2013/14 season would be his last on Merseyside before signing for Barça. Now, a week after facing former boss Rodgers against Celtic, he will now go up against a number of former teammates on Saturday at Wembley.
