FC Barcelona delivered a commanding display at the Palau Blaugrana, thrashing RK Zagreb 46–26 in the EHF Champions League.
Total control
Barça took charge from the outset. Blaz Janc opened the scoring and, backed by an intense defence and early saves from Hallgrimsson, the hosts quickly turned turnovers into goals through Dani Fernández and Frade. Aleix Gómez was flawless from the wing as the lead surged to 16–4. With Zagreb already eliminated from the knockout race, the visitors offered little resistance, and Carlos Ortega’s side went into half-time firmly ahead, 25–13.
A record-tying finish
The dominance continued after the break. Contributions came from across the court (Barrufet, N’Guessan and the Cikusa brothers all adding to the tally) while Hallgrimsson remained solid in goal. The gap stretched beyond fifteen goals as Barça passed the 40-mark with ease.
In the closing minutes, the blaugrana matched their club record in the competition by reaching 46 goals. A final strike into an empty net sealed a resounding 46–26 victory and a night of complete control at the Palau.
