FC Barcelona closed out 2025 in the Champions League with a dominant win over PSG, taking a big step toward qualifying for the quarter-finals. Aleix Gómez, Dika Mem and Emil Nielsen stood out in a victory built on a record-breaking first half. A real statement performance.
Pulling away…
Once Nielsen started making saves, Barça took off. After an early exchange of goals, the goalkeeper helped push the lead to 8–4. Dika Mem and Makuc led the scoring in an intense duel in which Barça imposed themselves in every area. PSG struggled to contain the home side’s pace, defence and goalkeeper, and the gap kept growing to 14–6.
…and matching a record
There was still work to do, but with Aleix Gómez on fire the lead was stretched to +10 at the break: 26–16. Barça had equalled the Champions League record by scoring 26 goals in a single half!
After the restart, Barça managed their advantage well. PSG improved and would eventually cut the deficit to just five goals, but with the Palau Blaugrana fully behind them, Barça’s victory was never in doubt.
Barça now sit top of the table, level with Magdeburg (who have a game in hand), and four points clear of third place in Group B heading into the Christmas break. The Champions League pauses until February 2026, but Barça return to ASOBAL action on Saturday 6 December at home to Balonmano Cuenca.
