The Barça handball team took a handsome 51-20 victory in the final game of the league season, giving them 59 points from a possible 60 in the competition with 29 wins and 1 draw in 30 matches.
As such, the blaugranes can now focus on the two challenges that remain for Carlos Ortega's team - the Copa del Rey next week in Jaén and after the Final Four of the Champions League in Cologne, Germany.
Total dominance
Against a Port Sagunt side already relegated, Barça stormed into an early lead at 14-2 after quarter of an hour. At half time the lead had sailed to 24-6, an example of the dominance of Ortega's team.
Dika Mem and Petar Cikusa top scored with 7 goals each in a game in which rotations were the order of the day with Gonzálo Pérez de Vargas, Melvyn Richardson and Hampus Wanne all staying behind in Barcelona. With the 51-20 final win, Barça sealed a 31st league title and set a new record for margin of victory beating their own old mark of 28 set in 1999/00 and again earlier this season in a 46-18 win over Rebu Cuenca.
