Al Noor 19-43 Barça: Great start to the Super Globe
An inspired blaugrana side in both attack and defence take a clear win against the Saudi Arabians / PHOTOS: IHF / Jozo Cabraja / Kolektiff
A clear win for FC Barcelona to start the Super Globe tournament with Carlos Ortega's team easily overcoming Saudi Arabian side Al Noor by 43-19. Pol Valera's excellent shooting and the scoring of Blaz Janc, Aleix Gómez and Wanne kept the goals coming to record a first win in Group A of the competition.
Valera star of the first half
An inspired Pol Valera guided Barça to an excellent opening half in the Super Globe tournament. Carlos Ortega's team quickly imposed themselves on the game but in attack and on defence. With Valera firing up front, the blaugranes took a comfortable 20-10 lead into the half time break.
In the second half Saudi side Al Noor mounted a mini comeback but Barça once again found their rhythm and goals from Djordje Cikusa helped stretch the lead to 16 at 32-16. Aleix Gómez took over from Valera as the main goal threat for the blaugranes and the lead just kept on growing. In the end a 24 goal margin at 43-19 gave the blaugranes an opening win with their next game to come on Thursday agvainst Al Ahly.
