Puente Genil 28-36 Barça: Winning rhythm

A tight first half but it's eventually yet another win on the road for the handball team

The FC Barcelona handball team keep racking up the wins and on Sunday they were victorious at Puente Genil (28-36) in a game where the home side had them sweating big time in the first half but they eventually made their superiority show going into a demanding spell that includes two league and two Champions League games in the space of just ten days.

Aitor Ariño scored a majestic six first half goals, and Barça were looking good when they went four clear, yet the home side cut the difference back down to one. Beating Barça is an almost impossible task in the Spanish championship these days, but this team seriously felt they might be able to spring an upset.

But as the second half progressed, it all got too much for them. Mem, Rodriguez, Richardson and Carlsbogard started banging in the goals and Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas found new verve on goal as the gap between the sides widened.

But Barça's lead never reached double figures, and although it was a strong win, it was by no means a comfortable one.
